I’m getting some error on mysql installation. So, to purge all just check first what have been installed on your linux.
dpkg –l mysql*
This will list out all the dpkg files installed on the system.
Then remove all of them
sudo apt-get remove --purge mysql-client-5.1 mysql-client-core-5.1 mysql-common mysql-server-5.1 mysql-server-core-5.1 sudo apt-get autoremove && sudo apt-get autoclean
After that reinstall mysql-server back.
I was facing some of the none removable mysql. So to locate them and manually delete them
